If you're using red hat I doubt Visual Basic programs would work.. If you're using windows then Visual Basic is a good way to start, and then progress thru C++ and the like.

For Visual Basic try here. It's pretty good. My mum's a Software Developer/Computer Programmer, but I probably know more than her about programming, and I suck. Um, yeah. Have fun.
