I think that, although inevitable, the population increasing further (and if it does at the projected rate) is a bad thing. There are only so many resources on the planet which are already, allegedly, stretched - and people are being charged higher prices for them.
Higher prices for food / raw materials will mean the divide between rich and poor increases further still, therefore the world hunger / poverty problem would get worse.
