What the hell happened to all the posts on my SayBox? I look today and there are 4 posts and that's it. Not really worth paying for if someone else has control over my friggin SayBox! www.dawgbones.com

Hi lifedeuce, I'm having trouble getting the saybox to show on your webpage, when viewing the source it looks like there is some un-parsed serverside code. I'm guessing that's causing the saybox to not load properly. I'm able to view your saybox here, however: saybox.co.uk/saybox.php?user=lifedeuceDo you know roughly how many shouts were in your archive when they disappeared?

I woke up this morning and again, all the posts from the last time I posted an archive wipe out are gone again! This is getting old. I have never enabled a flush of the posts on my shoutbox and think there may be server issues or security issues somewhere.

As far as I know there's no way for anyone to delete your shouts unless they know your admin password. Since we've promised money to anyone who can report a security flaw in ther software to us, then I'm going to assume there's no security issues here. It is occasionally possible for file corruption to occur on very active accounts, which may be what's happened with yours. Over the next couple of days we'll work on setting up an automated backup for your account - we won't be able to run it constantly, but it mean mean there will be some record of posts if it does happen again.
We should also be able set up a log of all admin actions, which would show if shouts were being deleted that way and would be emailed to us from your account, but in line with our privacy policy we need your permission before we can add something liek this.
We will also recredit your account with some subscription time once we've got everything else set up.

Renegade you have my permission to set up a backup of the archives. This is the 2nd time it has happened in a short period of time, so you can see why I would be concerned.

We'll try to get this all set up today or tomorrow. Currently the intention is to have your accoutn backed up probably every day for a little while, and also have a copy of each shout sent to our email when it's posted. that will mean if the shouts do all vanish again, we'll be able to restore a relatively recent archive for you. We can't run the backup in realtime because if there is a bug causing it, then when the shouts dissapeared, so would the backup; however with a seperate copy of the shouts sent to our email address we will also be able to see if theer's a bug in shouts that are posted which clears everything. We did discover and fix a bug along those lines a few months ago, using the same method to track it down, so hopefully if it is a bug causing the problem we can get it fixed as soon as possible. However, the extra coding this will involve means at peak times your account may run a bit slower than it should do as it will be doing more work for each shout that's posted than usual.
We will apply extra subscription credit to your account once we've got a bit closer to solving the problem, or at least finding what's causing it. If it does turn out that the problem is how much use your account gets, it may not be an immediate fix, but if there's a bug or some weird error causing the problems we ought to be able to get things sorted out right away.

All my shouts disappeared on 5/31. The shout box was acting up all day, and then, bam, they were all gone. I had a few thousand shouts... now we have like 38. I am not complaining, just letting you know that it happened. rapturewatch.proboards38.com/index.cgiLinda

here we go again. my shout box is gone again and i keep getting a little pop up asking me if i want to download shout.php.
This is the same thing that happened when i lost all my shouts last week.
last i looked we were down to 3 shouts remaining..... and the archive button and the admin buttons don't work.
I was just getting ready to renew my subscription for another year, but now I'm not sure.

I haven't heard of anyone being prompted to download the file like that before. However we are awware the server was running slow earlier, which it seems to prefer to do when I'm asleep rather than when I'm able to monitor it.
Tonight we intend to set up some automated scripts which may improve server performance. They will be run hourly, but it will probably be a day or two before we can really judge whether they've had an effect or not.

Ron could it be the same problem I had with spam bots posting codes that wiped the messages?

Question. I use the free version of SayBox and since a couple of days all I have is a blanc space. I get the adds, can see the smilies en can go to the admin. panel, but thats it. I must say: I've got 500 shouts in my box. Is that the reason maybe and what to do now? Also can I view the latest shouts in the admin. panel but nothing on my blog? nitro59.skynetblogs.be/
