The book could have been a load of blank paper bound together in a Harry Potter cover and it would still have sold millions... the fans wouldn't know there was no actual story written until they'd bought the book because they're all so scared of seeing "spoilers" for it. That would have been funny

Spoilers?! Where? Yeah, I queued up at midnight and read it in 9 hours of straight reading. ;D Oh and btw, I think very little of all the merchandise; and the books take 2 years to come out because... 1) They're long books, with relatively complicated plots. 2) JK has a young family. 3) It takes over six months just to do the editing, printing etc.

If JRR tolkien were to wake up from the dead and write a book and sell it, don't you think some people would be at the book store at midnight? I did not go at midnight, though I wanted to...and just to point something out, the midnight release thing is more for a party than anything else, at least in the United States. If they didn't have a midnight release, the same people would have been standing in line in the morning, so I don't quite understand what the big deal is.

So people like it enough to trust that it will be a good book...so what, it was a very good book. If there was a book you liked, I don't think you'd want to hear spoilers either

Most of that is since all the hype from the films. To be honest, I'd prefer it if it didn't have much publicity. I bought it at midnight because I was scared of having it ruined by some eejit telling me spoilers. It's not just from the internet. I very nearly got told stuff offline. For the record, I started reading the books before all the hype.

you bought it at midnight, in case you knew someone else who was also stupid enough to go to the shop at midnight to buy it told you the storyline. Logically, even if they did tell you, theres still the whole build up to the story. For example, in the new hit film "the wedding crashers" some1 could say "oh 1 of them falls in love and the other starts to go mad" and it wouldn't really ruin the storyline, even though thats basically what happens in the filme.

If someone had told me the way the character who died had been killed, yes it would have been a major spoiler.
And "stupid enough" to go at midnight? It's not like I went and stood by myself with a witches hat and broomstick. It was a good laugh with some mates. I just enjoy the books and wanted to get it as early as possible, as I'd been waiting for 2 years since the last one. Dunno why that's so bad..

lol - i heard a while ago that some chinese dude made a translation from english to chinese and then sold the copy for $2.50 U.S. dollars in China - the feds found out and ordered the books to be taken off the shelves. The REAL version wasn't supposed to come out until 3 months later - go figure the chinese dude made the ending differnt cause he didn't like the ending - FYI AND he spelled words wrong - like when it was supposed to say "immortal" he put "mortal" so yeah - a long pointless piece of info on the news :-)

I got the book a day after it came out, and finished about three days after. I really enjoyed it! I don't obsess over it, but it is a great series that is great to converse about!
