personally i thought we'd already made poverty history by having the live 8 concerts, or was that just a shameless publicity stunt i can never remember..

If they have achieved nothing else, the Live 8 concerts have got the world talking about the future of Africa. People have been made aware of the issues who may not have had a clue before, especially in places like America where it perhaps hasn't been a priority in the past.

yeah, i just hate the whole concept of live 8, because if every single artist who performed in the contest limited their earnings to £100,000 a year, which is still a lot, and gave all the rest to charity, 3rd world debt would be more or less paid off in a couple of years.
Also, the fact that the concert organisers had to pay the expenses of the bands is ludricrous considering the aims of the concert.

just another point, eBay were so picky about live 8 ticket sales before the concert, yet afterwards, eBay has been flooded with ticket stubs, programs, and unused tickets. Consistancy obviously doesn't exist in the eBay dictionary.

The idea of Live8, the "Make Poverty History" campaign, and the banner is to promote awareness of the problems Africa has. It's for a good cause, and it costs nothing to support the campaign, so why not?

Some people think that it is stupid to just raise awareness rather than moeny. But, the more people are aware of the problems in Africa the more, more people will donate

I think the more people who are behind the campaign, the more likely their countries leaders would be to write off the debt to the third world countries - and that is what the organisers are aiming for

I think its great that people and sites such as saybox are promoting awareness of the situation in Africa. Its terrible that we have so much, and I am planning on supporting a child in Africa starting next month; Live 8 and all the banners on sites have given me the initiative to do so.
