With the release of SayBox v3, we are also changing the way new accounts are handled.
From November 29th, 2004, accounts will no longer be manually reviewed by SayBox staff. Anyone signing up for an account will instead be required to confirm their email address by clicking a link in the first confirmation email - this will then create and activate the account automatically.
We hope that this will encourage more new members to register as it eliminates the waiting time incurred with the current system.

That's great. I think that was one of the main things people didn't like about SayBox: having to wait for their activation. But what about bandwidth? Are really active sites going to be allowed SayBoxes?

Cool , I guess the waiting period was kinda problem , I didn't really mind.
Since V3 is gonna be a complete re-write , how about relasing some version of a SayBox people can host themselves , for those really active sites who might have been denied a saybox , although I understand the ad's wouldn't be shown and all.

But what about bandwidth? Are really active sites going to be allowed SayBoxes? The clause in our TOS regarding excessive server use will still apply. Since V3 is gonna be a complete re-write , how about relasing some version of a SayBox people can host themselves , for those really active sites who might have been denied a saybox , although I understand the ad's wouldn't be shown and all. We currently do not plan to release any version of the SayBox software for people to host themselves. But what about Luke and his badgery? Now he'll have a Saybox for sure. I'd prefer you not to discuss competitors here, but I will say that even with the current activation system there is no way to stop someone who really wants a SayBox from getting one. However, if someone from a rival service does decide they need a SayBox account, we'll have to take that as a big compliment to our software
