has anyone else seen this yet? I saw it on thursday and thought it was rubbish, even though it was supposed to be one of the big hit films of the summer....

I saw it last night and quite liked it, but I think the rating as too low for it. The amount of blood & gore in the film definately should've made it at least a 15! The tripods reminded me of Half Life 2 The end of the film was quite an anti-climax, and throughout the film it was quite repetitive. After 20minutes into the film until 15minutes from the end, it's just running away and for the last 15minutes they actually do something different. I think they should've left longer for the ending part. Alright, but could've been better Not for people who are squeamish!

the end is rubbish its just like "oh look we win yay ". And cruise's character is probably the luckiest guy in the world. Its like everything he touches never gets destroyed i would give more detail but i'd probably ruin the film for people that havn't seen it :/

Well what I've heard sounds like the book I want to see it, but as I like the original movie and the book, I'm prepared to be disappointed.

It's official, this film can be summed up as "the longest chase scene in cinematic history" :/

I was a bit disappointed. Some bits were based on the book quite a bit, and those bits were actually good, but its the whole family issues thing that was annoying. I saw absolutely no need to invent a family just so they can have some arguments and then have a big reunion at the end. I dunno, I just think there was enough drama that was actually written by HG Wells to make a good film without inventing a Hollywood style family thing. They should also have made it 15-18 certificate and put more of the gory bits in

I loved the film. Really great movie. Made my top 3 movies actually. Fantastic.
The tripods were really freaky. The acting was top notch. The situations they were put into had me in the edge of my seat.(Literally!)
Great flick.

So many conflicting opinions....should I even bother going to see this at the cinemas or wait until it's released on DVD?
