You're happy with XP.. at the moment...What about when LH comes out? Um, I'll still be happy with XP? I'm not going to buy a new OS just for the sake of it... maybe when I get a new computer, but I'm not paying hundreds of pounds for a slightly better system.

True, but if its true, LH is going to be out in 2006/7 so that will make XP pretty old...

Longhorn.. Couldn't they have come up with a better name than that? Like, XP The Revenge. Or XP2, or go up a letter for XP, and make it "YQ"

I doubt Longhorn will run on just any computer It won't, it needs at least a DirectX 9 compatible graphics card to run the avalon graphics engine (this Mac OS X type effects when minimizing, etc.)

seeing as microsucks keep making their system requirements higher and higher, i wouldnt be surprised if the minimum requirements for this new operating system will be at least 1 gig of ram, and a processor that isnt out yet.. lets wait and see ;D

I downloaded Longhorn before. It's nothing special yet.
Longhorn has a new installer. It uses a black color scheme. Supposidly an upgrade to Longhorn will only take 15 minutes. Well right now a clean install of Longhorn takes about 2 hours. The boot up screen hasn't changed. The only thing new to the GUI is the ugly memory leaking side bar and a new visual style. The windows got a makeover and all but it's nothing to be downloading for.

I dig the transparent windows too.

No. And as with all technology it will need better hardware.

The system requiremnts wont be above a 1Ghz CPU and ~ 256MB of RAM. Knowing that Win XP takes up 3GB of HDD space, I wouldn't be surprised if Longhorn takes up to 5GBs. It's not due for release until about 2006, and it's not even in beta testing yet so there'll be long enough for M$ to improve the OS. And time for us to save up for it
